Yep and they also have the 24f series which is a good series as well. Basically I selected ST Because they have a crapload of cheap development boards and there chips are everywhere and a good price.

The price of the board with the display plus some ram other little goodies is the same as the chip alone. They have lots of boards like that.

You need minumum investment the bulk of cypresses toolchain is free or next to it. The same can be said for ST.

I'm not knocking Microchips 8b line thats why I want an update. I want to use the newer chips with a compiller I paid for. I'll be using 8b PIC's for a long time yet.

Since I rarely use the MikroC libraries [and if completing library code for the new processors is what is holding up the release] I would be satisfied with a "pre-release" [or beta] with incomplete libraries. I also rarely use the debugger. I just need the basic compiler functionality [with complete "header file"s (you guys call them 'Defs' files {or '.mlk' files})] . So, if the basic compiler is functional, then how 'bout it

BTW: is this correct: '.mlk' stands for Mikro LinK which suggests that they are actually object files that are processed by the linker, and the reason for doing it that way, rather than the usual '.h' header file, is that by pre-compiling those files, it speeds up the compile time for us Users? Is that why MikroC compiles so much faster than the XC8 compiler?

Which suggests the following conspiracy theory: you guys delayed the release of the next set of MikroC for PIC compilers, so we would have to resort to using other compilers and, thus, discover how much faster the MikroC compiler is?

First of all, we are not abandoning the PIC or Microchip families surely.
The new compiler release should be available in the next few weeks, so please have patience, I know it was quite of while when the previous version is released.

Looks like the PIC16F1513 is not currently supported by the software.
