Hello everyone!

First of all, i'd like to express my deep dissatisfaction with my EasyPic6 board. First of all, it came lacking one of the matrix keyboard buttons and the GLCD was not working. I took the display to another development board and it worked all right. After DAYS trying to reach support someone said they would send me another board because mine was "defective". Well, i was totally OK with that, so my problems would be solved (if the glcd was working i was never going to complain because of the button, i was just about to solder another button).

Thing is the board arrived serveral days ago but i just had time to put my hands innit yesterday. I'm struggling since then again with the darned GLCD. I even wrote a modified example using MPLAB (which i happen to hate, so i was thinking to buy MikroC) and it "worked". Well, only a half of it, but then i was sure the display is all right.

Did someone have any problems with their EasyPic6 boards and the display that came with it ? (Which is stated in my topic's title). I hope MikroE solves my problem, because I don't want to think i spent real cash in a board that just don't work.

Thanks a lot :)
Gustavo

PS: I always tried the bundled examples in the compiler. I think they should work out of the box, right ?
PPS: I changed the MCU several times, with another family chips, and it didnt work as well. I tested the connections (with a digital tester) and they are all ok, as stated in the board's documentation (electric chart)

Hi,

First of all, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Please, can you explain what kind of problems do you have ?

Regards,
Filip.

Hello Filip.

When i flash the GLCD or touch panel examples that came with the dev board nothing happens or appears at the screen, thats it.

It took me many days emailing support to be helped and they happened to send me another board (which i had to pay almost the value of the board in taxes) and it was "defective" as well.

I took the GLCD to another board (not mE's) and it worked, well, half of it worked, i think its because of the Chip select...

I wrote a basic library for MPLAB / C18 an could reproduce the same thing i had on the board, so i think its not the display...

If you have access to the support emails you'll see i sent some photos of the board working, so that should be a start,

Looking forward to solve this,

Gustavo

Hello.

Why do I think you don't care about your users / clients ? I had several boards to buy on schedule but i'm giving them up because of the horrible support you have.

This is starting to piss me off. Why does MikroElektronika sells the boards if you can't support them ? This problem is not on my side as i'm flashing the examples that came with the compiler. It never worked and i proved the display works making it function in another board.

I hope you solve my problem.

Thanks

I agreed with u. As a electronic technician technology, I always used breadboards and solved troubleshooting.

Why does MikroElektronika sells the boards if you can't support them ?. They should stop selling easypic4 and 5 and focus new easypic6 and upgrading new version and remove older version form website.

MikroElektronika has been doing good job. The software has been successfully. They should be following example visual studio 2010. That the ways i loved it.

I will have to talk with admin or moderator abt coding improvement.

I am sorry for the bad support impression you have. We really tend to provide all our users with the most updated information possible.
I have searched the emails for the support and I could not find any reference to this problem, so I would kindly ask you to resend them to zristic at mikroe. com and i will check who failed to answer them.

Concerning the problem, the examples should work out of the box immediately. Did you try to change the contrast potentiometer on the board? Sometimes this is the solution, simply try to increase the contrast and see what happens.

Please, mind the bad words. Thank you.

I will need some explanation of this claim before we continue the discussion.
Thanks.

Hello Zristic.

I am not that uninformed about how the board works. The contrast works, the pixels appear, but no example. I've tried everything as stated on the manual but no lucky.

No one failed to answer me. But you just can't solve my issue as it seems. You even sent me another board because someone said it was defective and it has the same problem.

Thanks

I don't think that requires an explanation. If you send me a product (which is not cheap, by the way) you have to provide a good support for it. Waiting 2 days for a post is not what a good support looks like.

Just like I said, I was thinking about buying a AVR and PIC32 boards, but with this experience i'm having I'll have to reconsider it.

Hi,

Please, send me the detailed photos of the board when the Glcd example is running to filip at mikroe.com,
so I could analyze them.

Again, I am very sorry for this issue.

Regards,
Filip.

Hello Filip, et al.

I was incredibly busy for the last months (last year @ college, lots of heat going on). My vacations started today so I really want to clear this up. I recently bought another GLCD (KS108 controller) and it didnt work either with the example code that comes with the board. Of course i've soldered the pins as marked on the board.

Again, the backlight and contrast works, so the display is fine, i think.

What are the further steps to take ?

Thanks

Gustavo
