Saving device clock in a project

#1 Post by Frank » 31 Mar 2005 21:04

Since I'm using an external oscillator with a 4 Mhz crystal that runs at 12 MHz for some stupid reason ( ), it would be nice if I could save the device clock in the project itself.

Every time I have to make sure I change the frequency to avoid banging my head against the wall......

I'm not a crystal expert, but it sounds like it is oscillating at 3rd overtone. You may need different capacitors. :?:

Hi LGR,

in case of the oscillator, you're right.
It must be a overtone frequency.

About saving the crystal-frequency in the project :

I was using version 2.1.5.0.
After downloading 2.1.6.0, the frequency is being saved !!!

Thanks for your replay.

Frank.

Again, I'm not an expert, but soemwhere in the back of my mind, I recall that if it is being driven to overtones, that the current may be high, and the equipment could be damaged. Or maybe not. :?: :?:
