Simulator Reset Options

#1 Post by dcomer » 08 Aug 2011 23:02

This is a copy of a wish list item for the uC Pro PIC. I posted it again to register my interest in this feature in BOTH the dsPIC and the 8051 (in fact all) of the simulators.

Thanks,

Dave

"it would be great to have support in the simulator for these reset options...

MCLR reset
POWER reset
Watchdog reset

implemented by using F-keys or menu options, while at any stage of the code debug."

Hello Dave,

It is much simpler to use ICD debug to test with these reset options.
Because, however we implement them in software simulator it would never be as accurate as ICD.

Please try with ICD debugging and test for these resets, and I think you will be satisfied with results.

Best regards.

Not sure why in the _simulator_ I'd want to use an ICD? That said this post was intended, first, applying to the 8051 _simulator_, and in general to all device _simulators_.

So, I still maintain, that in a _simulator_ it having a reset is needed.

BTW, and this is off topic, with respect to the 8051, I have considered a 8051prog2, but it does not support enough devices at present.
