18FxxKxx with 5V environment support

#1 Post by Ikefu42 » 11 Oct 2010 20:34

I would love to see a development board that supports the new generation of PICs in the 18FxxKxx series with a 5V environment. The EasyLV-18F v6 is great but only supports a 3.3V environment. Many of the 18FxxKxx series will work with both 3.3V and 5V and since so many peripherals only support 5V I would like to be able to do this.

Maybe this could be a feature for the EasyPIC v7 board :D

I agree! We here at a particle accelerator facility have to make most of our own devices from scratch, because they don't exist! 5V logic is used because of it's popularity (and we have tons of 5V electronics already!).

Any idea on the due date of the new "Universal Programmer" that supports the 18FxxKxx devices? I already have designs using this (didn't realize the 18LV didnt support it ). Using jumpers fromt he dev board is difficult! I would be happy with a working protoype!
I like apple P=IE!
