Device compatibility

#1 Post by gip_mad » 05 Oct 2008 12:24

Hi, I just downloaded the demo of the compiler, in the Version history it says that all PIC24 devices are supported, but the device I need for my project (PIC24FJ256GB108) is missing. Also, the last update is dated back in 2007-06-25. Will a new version be available anytime soon? I would like to buy an EasyStart Kit 3 for dsPIC33/PIC24, but first I need to know if it will support my device.
Thanks

mikroC for dsPIC doesn't support the new PIC24***GB chips directly. You can however add support to mikroC by creating the appropriate definition file.

I bought myself the EasyStart Kit 3 for dsPIC33/PIC24 and it worth every cent I paid for it.

I've just opened the defs folder, I think I can manage to create an include file for my device following the template, but what about the "mcl" files? They look like precompiled libraries compiled for each specific device, am I right? I've seen the great value of this board too, that's why I was considering buying it! :D Also, what about the MCU card? I suppose that all devices are pin to pin compatible, so I just have to order one with the desired number of pins, right?

hi,
the .mcl will be create the first time you will use you own def file.
For the card, chk the number of pin but... with the datasheet chk pin compatibility too .... just in case... sometime microchip do strange thing
