demo limit too small for mmc functions

#1 Post by RadioBeamer » 21 Nov 2006 11:03

Hi,

I have just obtained by BIGdsPIC demo board and the MIKROC_dsPIC compiler. I am new to C programming - always programmed PICs / AVRs in ASM before. My new projects need more processing power and I don't want to spend forever writing low level code so I thought to try C.

So far I was able to quite quickly make the LEDs / LCD / RS232 work. Next I want to try the MMC but the example code (Mmc_Fat16_Test) is beyond the demo limit, even if I comment out all the code except for initialising and creating a file. Is there any way to get around this except to purchase the licence?

I did not try and evaluate any other compilers so far but I noticed that the microchip compiler has no restrictions (except optimisation stops working after 2 months) and is free. What are the advantages of the MIKROC compiler over the microchip compiler?

Thanks for great tools and forum. :)

Best regards

Paul
