Absolutely new to programming microchips

Hello

It's a week ago i was starting to learn something about electronic....now i'm sitting here with my EasyAVR5A trying to test the touchpanel. I found this code: http://www.mikroe.com/zip/touchpanel_examples.zip , but after trying and trying and lots of errors, i saw that this code is for programming PIC Microcontrollers.
By the way i'm searching now for Code Examples for ATMEGA16 just to learn how this will work with the touchpanel.

So can someone please post me a little code to test my touchpanel, maybe some code with callibration, buttons to push, or something who could be interesting. I'm absolutely new on Basic so i'm just starting to learn.
I could get work all other hardware on that board (from 7-Seg-Diplay to GLCD, LCD, Temp-Sensor, LEDs.....but still working on the touchpanel)

Maybe someone of you can also explain me in simple words, how i can get my own image (i already understud it must be in monochrome bmp) on GLCD...how can i acces this image library to add pictures?

I tried those two links, but could find something to help me on touchscreen...so is there nobody who can convert this code: http://www.mikroe.com/zip/touchpanel_examples.zip for AVR Atmeg16 (mikroBasic) .... please?
