Necto vs. MicroC Pro

#1 Post by BieblRecords » 25 May 2020 07:48

Should I crossgrade to Necto, and why?

Is there anything supported for my old Projects which run with MicroC Pro?
Will the EasyPic V5 Usb Programmer included? Or is it possible to link to the old Programmer so I can programm with one click?
Is the compiler the same as in microC Pro?
Will there be a full offline installer?
Is it possible to use it on a pc without internet connection?
Is there an offline help like in mikroC Pro?

And finally what are the improvements comparing to mikroC?
Will there be astandalone compiler for mplabx?

Hmm..., after 2 hours of testing, compiling creating a new project in Necto Studio:
- Look and feel is definatly better.
- Autocompletition a little better. But not good at all.
- There are a lot of features missing that are in mikroC Pro.
- It generates no *.lst file (Or im not able to find them)
- Why does the build include the source files?
- Search for functions not working

So for me it looks like MikroC Pro graphic remake.
I can´t see any improvements.
I had a lot of strange behaviour in these two hours of testing...

Hello,

Could you provide some more feedback about which features you are missing the most?
Is the .lst file generation enabled in Edit Project > Toolchain window?
What exactly do you mean by "Why does build include the source files?" Could you elaborate please?
If you are referring to the Search functionality in the Code explorer, I managed to reproduce this issue, I will report it to our developers.

As for the questions from your previous e-mail:
- You can import mikroC PRO projects in NECTO, simply browse for the .mcppi file from NECTO and open it.
mikroProg integration is planned to be implemented in the next update, if not that one, then the one afterwards.
- For now only CODEGRIP can be used directly from NECTO.
- mikroC AI is a new and improved compiler based on mikroC PRO.
- We could supply you with a full offline installer.
- It is possible to use NECTO offline. Regarding the help file, currently it's only available online, but we could supply you with offline version.

Features and improvements you can see on the official NECTO webpage.
As for the standalone compiler, it hasn't been decided yet.
If you have any other questions, let me know.

Kind regards,
Filip Grujcic
