624j600 and multicasting

Using the http_demo for the 624j600 ethernet chip with the Pic32 pro compiler and wanting to multicast to my dev board. I thought i could just modify the demo code with a single line that enables multicasting. SPI_ETHERNET_24J600_Enable( _SPI_Ethernet_24j600_Multicast) did that. Tried to broadcast but that didnt work either. Used sACNView software for testing because it works with other multicast client devices. Unicast worked fine. Can someone point me to the correct way to use multicasting with the library's for pic32.

Any help would be appreciated.
