Hi,

For PIC24FJ, PIC24HJ and dsPIC33 you should use our lvPICFlash programmer or LV24-33A development board.
http://www.mikroe.com/en/tools/lvpicflash/
http://www.mikroe.com/en/tools/lv24-33a/
Also on mentioned webpages you can find corresponding programmer software.

Yes you can. If you provide correct definitions files for that chip, the compiler will work fine. See the DEFS folder of your mB installation, it contains definition files for all supported chips.

Any chance mE could provide an updated DEFS folder with definitions for the latest 24FJ series that were not supported in the original release?

It would be a good short term update while we wait for the new Pro version in Q4.

Something exactly like this we had in mind. It is still not fixed decision but our plan is to release a small
patch that will provide definition files for the new MCUs. That way we can encourage our users to
test the dsPIC compilers further and give us as much bug reports and suggestions as they can.

Any word on when the new version will be released? Or even if new definition files will be distributed?

Its now been two years since version 5.0.0.0 was released. Microchip has been busy pumping out new chips with expanded resources and new features that we can't take advantage of. Please don't let this fantastic compiler slip into obsolescence!

Hi,

we are working on the revision of dsPIC compilers right now.
We had an idea to publish a small release with just the support for the newly released MCUs, after some reconsideration we decided to cancel that and work on full PRO version of the compiler.
This means we will release PRO version of the dsPIC compilers with new graphical IDE, Library manager, improved hardware and software libraries and these are just some of the improvements.
There will be standard period of beta testing during which you would be able to report any bugs you find and suggestions you would like to see implemented.
