Still can't turn off 'tabs to spaces'

I've been using MikroC since 2006, and in all that time there has been a problem where when you save a file indented in tabs, they are replaced with spaces on next opening. Some experiments confirm that it is saving the file (rather than opening the file) that is doing it. I have tried every possible permutation of the tabs options in the editor options dialog; my suspicion is that the tabs-to-spaces option is not being evaluated correctly. Each time MikroC updates I hope for it to be fix... but it never is. Do the devs just hate tabs?

Nah, this problem has simply very low priority as may be concluded from the answer posted in 2012:

We are fully aware of the problem, it's on our TODO list and we'll resolve it according to our priority list.
