Unable to find MINI-M4 for MSP432 in freshly downloaded MikroBootloader V242

#1 Post by Brussieux » 04 Oct 2020 18:01

Hi,

i am trying to program one brand new (nerver flashed) MINI-M4 for MSP using the mikroBootloader V2.4.2.0 downloaded from ME website describing the Mini-M4.

The MikroBootlader does not show the Mini-M4 in the available MCUs that can be selected using the upper textbox.

( even after correct selection of the adequate comport and baudrate ).

This making the whole tool and board unusable ...

How could we fix that ?

Regards,

Marc

Hi Marc,

Could you please check the results in the USART Terminal within 5 seconds upon MCU reset?
Please configure the USART Terminal as in the screenshot below and send me a screenshot of the terminal window.
You should see "gggggggg...." as a response from MCU on the terminal within 5 seconds after reset if there's a bootloader inside the MCU.

Do you have a mikroProg for MSP432 programmer to reprogram the board with a bootloader hex file, in case the bootloader is damaged?

Kind regards,

Hi Stefa,

please find attached the required screenshot : yes, i can see the "gggg..." the question was concerning the impossible connexion between the MINI-M4 for MSP432 and the bootloader fitted to the product ( dowloaded from https://www.mikroe.com/mini-msp432 webpage ) ; i also inluded the screenshot of the bootloader during the MCU selection phase , where the MINI-M4 does not show in the list ...

Hi,

Could you please try with the mikroBootloader tool from the compiler which has automatic MCU selection?

Kind regards,

hi Stefan,
as suggested, i triel with the MikroElektronika Bootloader embedded with the MikroBasic PRO for ARM V6.2.0 compiler suite but ... same event happens ( MINI-M4 for MSP432 is not listed in the range of CPUs) ...

A new bug for your team ?... (sorry for that)

Marc

Hi,

After you set the COM port and baud rate in the mikroBootloader application, press reset button on the MINI board and you will have a time frame of 5 seconds to connect to the board.
In this time frame, please press the Connect button in the application and you will be connected to the board.

If this doesn't work, could you please try with other USB port/hub or PC.

Regards,
Filip.

Dear Filip,

this is the procedure i have followed as usually ... reset + connect within 5 seconds.

The microcontroler DOES connect to the mikroBootloader.

Then , when clicking "Browse for HEX" , the terminal says "select device first".

Then, i cannot find my MINI-M4 for MSP432 in the list proposed by the popup "select device" menu...

This is precisely where the problem happens : the MINI-M4 does not show up into this selection menu.

Test that on your side, see what happens on your PC ( mine is an asus 64 bits W10 ).

Hi, i finally found that any board carrying the MSP432 could fit with my need for bootloading ... any choice from the popup menu will work, even on the mini wich does not show in the available list... so it's ok now...
