Hello,
I upload a picture of the board, a software archive, and a print screen of programming.
The Vcc to the circuit board is interrupted by a jumper. The programmer shows Vcc = 3.23V.
Programming is successful in 1 out of 5 attempts.
This is not my first project :(

EasyPIC7 (Hardware rev 1.02) with PIC18F14K22 programming seems to work reliably with external 9V supply, but unreliably with USB supply.

This might suggest some sort of power supply issue, but why OK with other PICs, and why does proto-board with external PSU fail?

Maybe it is time to put an oscilloscope on the power supply pins during programming. Probably should have checked errata sheet long ago - will do that next.

Will keep investigating....

Well - after forgetting about the problem for a few hours - came back to it with exactly the same PICkit7 set-up, and now the PIC programs perfectly every time. Can't get it to fail.

This issue definitely belongs on the "too difficult" pile.

I think I will quit at this point :(

If any problems return, then I think I will just choose a different PIC, rather than keep chasing ghosts.

Hello,
If the programmer has been switched off for a long time (1 hour or more), then the first few attempts are successful, then stops programming specifically PIC18F14K22. With other microcontrollers there is no such problem.

Hello,
This morning, after the programmer was turned off for a few hours, the attempts again failed. What I wrote above is not true.
I wrote a small program of 800 bytes (5%), which is programmed successfully every time. Without shutting down anything, I load a large hex file of 14 kbytes (90%) and cannot program it once.
Please support for any help.
Can any other programmer with the ready hex file be used.
I will be grateful for any help.
Hristo

Hi Hristo,

I finally managed to reproduce this issue. You're right, with large hex files (>50% used ROM) the mikroProg cannot program this PIC even once.
I believe the problem is related to the mikroProg Suite. I have forwarded this to our developers.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused by this.

Kind regards,
Stefan Filipović
