Hi everybody,
I'm trying for a few hours now to let mikroProg recognize my PIC18F47K40.
I have connected it correctly to the pic.
In MikroProg Suite I have selected PIC18F-K as MCU family and PIC18F47K40 as MCU.
When I click Read I get: - Device detected: Unknown !
Why is that? What am I doing wrong?
I even used another PIC18F47K40 with the same result.
I also changed the PIC18F47K40 for a PIC18F45K22 and that one did get recognized. So my mikroProg and wiring should be ok I think.
The PIC18F47K40 does get recognized by the PicKit3. But I really don't feel like using the PicKit3 with MPLAB-IPE if I don't have to....
I hope you guys have a solutions.
Best regards,
Benno

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi Benno,
In order to program PIC18FxxK40 devices
you will need to update the firmware on mikroProg.
In order to do that, please install the newest version of mikroProg Suite (2.60):
https://shop.mikroe.com/mikroprog-pic-dspic-pic32
Unzip folder, and then right click -> Run as Administrator.
Then, please follow these instructions:
https://download.mikroe.com/documents/p ... pgrade.pdf
Kind regards,
Lana

Hi Lana,
I had already the latest version of MikroProg. I did the firmware update and now it works!
Thanks!!

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi, I'm having the same issue with a new project that uses a PIC18LF26J50 and wonder if it is anything to do with my programmer firmware as neither of my two prototypes are recognized.
I am using:
MicroProg suite v2.51.
MikroProg Firmware v2.11
MikroProg Hardware v01.14.12.02
Thanks,
Dave

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi Dave,
I have tried to program PIC18F26J50 (from the same datasheet as PIC18LF26J50),
and it was working properly.
Can you please try to update the firmware with 2.60 version of mikroProg Suite?
Kind regards,
Lana

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Thanks Lana,
Yet again I have reluctantly done as suggested and destroyed my programmer.
It took over a week for me to figure out (with help from someone at MikroE) how to get my programmer working again the last time I tried to do a firmware update.
I seem to remember that v2.6 MikroProg Suite was too flaky (or does not work properly with windows 10) to do the update to fix my programmer last time and I was told to revert back to 2.51 to get it working again.
It seems that either 2.51 can perform firmware updates much better or the older firmware contained in the distribution is more stable.
I knew this was not going to work so I waited until my shiny new MPLAB ICD4 landed on my desk before I did the update. Just need to figure out the best way to use your compiler with the ICD4.

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi Dave,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience which you have experienced.
Issue was specific to situation which you had, that is why version 2.51 version was suggested,
when firmware is the latest one (before update), updating from mikroProg 2.60 should work properly,
we have tested many times.
Can you please submit a ticket and send when this issue occur
and which version of mikroProg Suite are you using?
Also, please send is your mikroProg Firmware still as at this post?
Kind regards,
Lana

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi Lana,
I have managed to fix my programmer by using the "FrmFlashmProg" file previously supplied to me when I last killed both my programmers by attempting to do a firmware update.
The firmware is back to v2.11 as I suspect that is what is hard coded into the program above.
It just seems that I am unable to update either of my programmers with either v2.51 or v2.6 and it does not matter which of the USB ports on my Lenovo E550 PC I try to use .
I have just uninstalled v2.6 and put v2.51 back on as I remember v2.6 would not program my PIC24 reliably and v2.51 did.
I am putting this project to one side now as it is just something I was trying to work on in my spare time which I don't seem to have much of anymore.
Kind Regards,
Dave

Re: PIC18F47K40 not recognized?
Hi Dave,
The newest version is 2.11, I have asked you to update the firmware just in case.
When you have time, can you tell me are you able to program any other MCU?
Can you send your schematic?
Kind regards,
Lana
