strange error in compiler

The preprocessor stops at line 78 always, and independent if the line is empty, comments or program code the same error occurs:

preprocessor error: (line 78) string not terminated

The project is so large that its not possible > 20 units, to fix this problem I have tried moving text deleting actual line, I just wanted to know what causes it: is it a problem in an other unit or what. I also tried to find any explanation on this errorcode but such a document does not seem to exist! I am now rebuilding the project so the fault is not critical. It could be an idea to revise the error checking of the compiler, you get 5-10 errorcodes with varying content for a missing ; and so is it with nearly any stupid fault.
