Working Project for PIC33FJ128MC708

#1 Post by JimKueneman » 13 Nov 2009 19:02

Anyone have a working example for this part? I finally worked past the bug in the programmer giving me the errors, http://www.mikroe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22512. I had to go back to a previous version of the programmer and drivers.

Now when I program it it appears to work but when I read it back to verify it fails. Neither the code or the configuration bits seem to be written. I can Clear and Erase it though. I have looked at MCLR, PGC1, and PCD1 on the MCU card and they are being toggled during read/write operations.

I was suspicious of the 10Mhz oscillator and caps since when the part is idle only one side was oscillating and at a random frequency but during the programming intervals it cleans up. I am not use to the dsPIC so I am assuming this has something to do with the part disabling the external oscillator on startup (the default configuration since I can't change it).

I am sure I don't have all the config bit set up correctly so if anyone has a simple project for this part, or similar part, can you please contact me? I am getting desperate. I need to show progress on the project by Monday and if I can't even program the part I am doomed.

Thanks,
Jim

Has anyone gotten this part to work? I can't get it to program the configuration bits or code on 2 boards with 10Meg crystals and I have build a board with no crystal so it uses its internal oscillator, still won't program any part of the devices memory....

The supplied PIC24 still programs and works just fine on the LV24-33A board.

Solved. After reading the ICSP documentation it was clear that the cap for the regulator pin (Vcap) needs to be a very good cap. I added a couple 1u ceramic caps around the 10u that was there and all is good.

BTW:

I did not pick out the parts for this board. :^)
