RS422 interface

#1 Post by Isaac » 21 Feb 2009 20:40

Hello Friends,

I have a prob, I need to interface with a RS422 serial sensor and i read the Help file of MikroP and saw a LTC485 Circuit, i downloaded the datasheet and foundout that it is compatible with RS422 electrical parameters, so the question is this:

1. Has someone conected a RS422 device before with this Chip?
2. Is it posible to just use this chip to interface the serial dsPIC interface to the RS422 sensor? Just puting the chip between them?
3. Can it work with 5V suply?

Ill will do some testing

Thanks in advance for the orientation

Hello

We work very often with RS422.
And yes it works perfect, even when your PIC is running on 3.3 Volt and the LTC485 on 5V.
If you want a chip running on 3.3 Volt aswel, you could concider the LTC1480, beware that the Output is also 3.3V but most of the times that wouldn't be a problem.
