Hi eSilviu!

Currently, Linux compilers - project is on hold because our software developers are very busy working on the new mikroE PIC32 compiler.
can we have at least the compiler?
I'll pass this suggestion to our management.
Best regards
Slavisa

A Linux native PicFlash utility would be a good start.

Cheers,

If you are currently working on a Linux version, please do not forget about other Unix-based systems, like OSX! MikroC works fine on a virtual machine, but I am (like other Mac users) still forced to use Window$...

I got an easypic6 as a gift but could never use it because I cannot program it from linux. Now I am trying to sell it for half the price it is worth.

The mirkoe board are very interesting, but without picflash for linux, they are useless for me

The AVR C compiler is *almost* Wine compatible under Linux, but the remaining problems seem to be file system related, making the tool useless.

It would be great if MikroElektronika were to track the progress of Wine by keeping a Linux install handy (best may be Ubuntu via via Wubi: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer). The only initial work needed will be to construct the build environment. After that, a quick test compile will highlight the code and DLLs that may need work. Keep Ubuntu and Wine updated. Then when a test compile shows that the needed work seems doable, the Linux release can happen!

The Wine folks love to support Windows developers seeking to port to Linux. Get on the Wine forums and ask!

Been awhile since anyone updated this thread. Any news on running MikroC in Linux?

Is a Virtual Machine currently the best option?

Hi,

Although we think that is a very good idea to have Linux compilers in our offer,
the project is on hold because our software developers are very busy working on the improvement of the existing compilers and
other products.

Best regards,
Marina

Dear Mikroelektronika team,
why to bother at all with a Linux version? Wasn't it simpler and better to write the compiler for ALL the main platforms (Linux, OSX, Windows)? Nowadays there is no excuse for writing platform-specific programs! There is an excellent tool called Qt - it is a C++/C++11 based cross-platform application and a user interface framework, very powerful and easy to learn. I needed only a few weeks to port my C++ programs. OK, it weren't very big programs, but also not very small - 2000 to 5000 lines of code. But for such smart guys like you, porting even much bigger programs would go like a breeze...

Dear MikroElectronika team,

is there any update to that matter? It's still annoying to have a multi-boot system or using a virtual machine to being able to use the compiler, as well as the IDE.

Sincerely,
Fox
