Flip&Click SAM3X Erase Button

Hi,
I found on my Flip&Click SAM3X Board a new (?) button, that is not shown on the product page and not in the schematic and description.
It is labeled with "ERASE".
When I press it, it seems to destroy the code, that is written to the SAM3X.
What is it for exactly? Is it possible to prevent accidentally destruction of my application? Where is it conected?
