GSM-GPS click SIM808 MIKROE-2382

#1 Post by gybz79 » 13 Feb 2018 14:58

Dear Sirs,

we have purchased your GSM-GPS CLICK MIKROE-2382 device some time ago.
We have tried to send some AT commands from a PC interface connected on
microUSB, but without succes.

Can you please tell us if the device needs some
initialization/configuration first?
Or can you propouse a simple solution for interfacing with a PC from
where we can send some AT commnads to the device and where we can have
the answers from it as well.
Are there some documentation available for this?

Our goal is to build up a GSM/GPS prototype and when this will work we
will need at least 100 of devices like this.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Gyurka Bela-Zoltan

Hi Gyurka,

Welcome to the MikroE forum.

How did you connect GSM-GPS click, did you also connect pin 5V
(since that one is necessary)?

We have provided examples, but written in our compilers,
which you can try to use as reference:

https://libstock.mikroe.com/projects/vi ... -gps-click

You can see in function : gsm_gps_init how the module is initialized.
If you still have issues, please specify which AT commands you have tried.

Kind regards,
Lana

Hi Lana,

yes the 5V pin is connected.
We have tried the communication over the microUSB port and also using a RS232/TTL converter on the UART. It seems something is coming all the time from the device but not valueable information.
So for a simple AT<CR> command it has answering nothing, just what I wrote above.
Do you have a demo version your software or can you copy the content of the gsm_gps_init to can check how you propouse the initialization.
Thanks.

Best Regards,
GyBZ

Hi Gyurka,

Yes, we have demo version for all our compilers:

https://www.mikroe.com/compilers

you can download demo versions for free,
and also Package Manager (for installing the library):

https://www.mikroe.com/package-manager

then you can take a look in example, but just in case I'm sending one in the attachment.
Also, which baud rate did you try? Default one is 115200 bps.

Kind regards,
Lana

Hi there,
I have the excact same problem with my new 2382 device. Have installed USB driver from this "MS_USB_ComPort_Driver_exe_v1.1032.1\", running "InstallDriver.exe" in adm. mode (PC is running Win10).
Driver data are: Date/version 22-01-2015/3.0.1504.0.
Using Tera Term serial connection with these parameters: 115200-8-none-1-none, I only recieve carbage like this "ÿ'qÕÆ …CÉ¥ ÿ'qÖÆ …DÍ¥ ÿ'q×Æ …EÍ¥ÿ'qØÆ …Fþ'qð …_R¥", this of course makes it possible to pass any AT commands to the board.

I have also tried to connect via the UART (using a RS232 <-> TTL conversion board) and Tera Term / PUTTY @ 9600 (and all the other rates) recieving no response at all.

2382 is supplied with +3V3 and +5V and PWRKey = +3V. I can see that the GSM engine is running, I can make a call to it and see that the RI pin goes low. I have looked in Lana's attached "example" without finding any clue...

I have now used two days on this anoying issue
So please somebody help me I'm really running out of ideas here....

Hello,

I connected GSM GPS click board with USB UART click board (TX - RX and RX - TX).
Also, I connected both click boards with GND and VCC.
After that, I opened our USART Terminal, set baud rate 115200, ticked the checkbox Append New Line and when I sent AT I got OK.

Can you also do that? If you don't get a response, can you please send me a picture of your connections and a screenshot of your terminal?

Kind regards,
Jovana

Hello there
I recently purchased the mikroe-2382 module and am having problems using it.
I use the curiosity card from Microchip to interface with the module, but as soon as I plug the module, there is a voltage drop, and the card disconnects from the PC.
I measured the voltage between the pin + 3V and GND and between + 5V and GND. They are both around 2V.
When I interface the module directly to the pc via the micro USB port, the following message is displayed on my pc: "Disconnect the accessory too greedy to reactivate the USB devices" .
I do not know the problem and what to do.
I need help.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
