Hi Guys,
I want to get into PIC programming ... for several boring reasons ... but the main reason being that I have been doing web development for far too long ...
What I want to know is this: Should I learn C or C++? I know that MikroElektronika has IDE's for C. But I really do not want to waste my time in learning C if I could do PIC programming with C++.
Thank You
Danny

Re: Newbie Question
Wast your spare time and learn some thing HOT, PIC is past, Arm is future.
Mikroe is C compiler, also have pascal ( my option ) and basic.
Off course you can use c++ from the expensive Mikroe competitors

Hi everyone,
Writing code for PIC or some other uC is linked with hardware knowledge, you should read uC datasheet provided buy manufacturer (Microchip), this is pretty different from making some PC application. If you write some code in past, I don't think that you will have some trouble in MikroC.
Best regards,
Peter

Re: Newbie Question
I have just purchased 3 different PIC Microcontroller modules and the parts necessary for building a JDM2 PIC Programmer. I now want to program these microcontrollers, but I am having trouble finding tutorials on how to program. I have tried assembly language, and let's say, its not for me. My question is: In what languages can you program PIC Microcontrollers, say PIC16F84A-04's, and what are some good website tutorials (I don't live near any good bookstore) for learning to program in these languages? The only other language I know about is BASIC, and I would like if possible for someone to direct me to a thorough website totiral for programming in this language, if possible. Thanks.

There are many possibilities for programming microcontrollers.
For PIC family please see:
MikroC Pro for PIC http://www.mikroe.com/mikroc/pic/
MikroBasic Pro for PIC http://www.mikroe.com/mikrobasic/pic/
MikroPascal Pro for PIC http://www.mikroe.com/mikropascal/pic/
Also please see PIC books:
