MikroICD freeze randomly

#1 Post by erkileitaru » 11 Mar 2016 10:41

Hi, do you have any idea why my new ICD freezes randomly while stepping, adding variables to watch list, hovering over variables etc. It always freezes within first minute of using it. To unfreeze, I have to pull out ICD usb cable. Then it shows following error (attached file).

Compiler dsPIC v.6.2.1
mikroProg suite firmware v01.14.12.02
Opsys Windows 10 Pro

Hi,

Can you please tell me which MCU, and what kind of hardware do you use?

Is this happening with every project, or just with a specific ones?

Best regards,

Uros

MCU PIC24FV16KM202 on breadboard, internal FRC osc. Could the internal osc cause the problem? I don't have crystal at the moment to check. Ofter after reconnecting the ICD, first debugger start fails with message about PIC clock error and hardware not found. Another hit to F9 and it starts the debugger.

I tried also Clicker 2 dev board with couple of example projects. I didn't get any hangups, although these example projects were very simple and short. As Clicker 2 is PIC32, it is also different compiler.

I modified Led Blink example project to test. It didn't froze. But the other project often freezes even before executing first command in debugger.

Hi,

Can you please tell me where you have tried Led Blink and other projects when they freeze?
Is it Clicker 2 for PIC32, or your breadboard with PIC24?

Can you zip and send your project where you have that issue?
Maybe you didn't set something right in your project settings.

Hi, I tried the modified Blink example at my breadboard with PIC24. Do you have any email address to send the project or post just here?

Hi, I ran the debugger for the one last time before sending the project to you. But like it often happens at such moment - everything works like a charm. Probably I had some array handling problem and it corrupted debugger RAM area. I hope it was the problem.
