need help with nRF905 (14 pin)

I am using the nordic nRF905 C433 transcievers with a PIC 18F4520. Need help sending and recieving. On one PIC i have connected the nordic chip to the TX and RX and I am passing through TXREG = 'F'; but i am not recieving an 'F'. My goal is to send decimals, does the nRF905 need code send and recieve?
